The Historic Church, la Iglesia de La Inmaculada Concepción Torrevieja is one of the most iconic landmarks in the town, admired for its elegant neoclassical architecture and deep roots in local history. The church you see today was completed in 1880, built on the site of earlier temples, though none of their structures survive.

Two bell towers, added in 1907, flank the main façade. The church’s exterior features striking brickwork, twin towers topped with pyramidal shapes, and a statue of Christ above the arched entrance.

Inside, the spacious white interior is covered by elegant barrel vaults. The floor plan follows the classic Latin-cross layout, with the main altar housing the cherished image of the Immaculate Conception, patron saint of Torrevieja.

Despite the devastating earthquake of 1829 which damaged much of the region, the church was reconstructed starting in 1844 and finished in 1880, with full completion of the towers in 1907. Today it stands not only as a place of worship but also as a cultural and architectural centerpiece.
