Each spring, Semana Santa in Torrevieja transforms the city into a living tapestry of faith, tradition, and artistic spectacle. The town’s 14 cofradías (brotherhoods) coordinate solemn processions from Palm Sunday through Easter, with sacred images carried through the winding streets and dramatic nightly parades lit by candlelight.
On Domingo de Ramos, palms and olive branches are blessed before the procession of Jesús Triunfante. Over the following days, processions of La Esperanza, Cristo de la Caída, and others traverse Torrevieja’s historic center at dusk, accompanied by stirring music, penitents, and local devotion.
The highlight arrives on Good Friday and Easter Sunday, when the ritual of Christ’s Passion, Burial, and Resurrection is re-enacted with profound emotion and visual pageantry.
